Cornell Urgent Care offers a medication assisted weight loss program
which approaches the weight loss concept a
little differently. The program is different because we allow our patient to have the freedom to make decisions
on how they are going to proceed with their weight loss. Most weight loss doctors and centers require that the
patient follow "their" plans, "their"diets, and buy "their" products. Our belief is that if the weight loss is to
be successful and permanent, it has to become a permanent lifestyle change which the patient may "realistically"
want to follow and continue with. We call our program "FREEDOM-OF-CHOICE" just for that reason. As long as a healthy
diet is used, "our patient chooses the diet program" they prefer.
With that being said what we provide is the medication to help curb appetite and cravings during the caloric reduction
portion of the program, along with medically monitoring the patient's health during the process. Our patients choose
a program which realistically and financially will work for their personal needs. People respond differently to
certain diets due to many factors: food preferences, costs, health conditions, daily requirements and conveniences.
This program is not designed to be used as a long term approach to weight loss. What we are offering is the "help"
you need during the hardest portion of the program "the beginning state" when you are adjusting to your new eating
habits and lifestyle changes.
Initial program fee includes, a physical exam, Lab testing, EKG, BMI and one month supply of medication.
Certain health criteria must be met before starting our program. Our program is reasonably priced, convenient, and effective.
All visits are on a walk-in basis (excluding the first visit which must be scheduled), our hours are extended to better
accommodate the schedules of our patients, and the weight loss medication is included in the cost of the program and
dispensed at each visit so that there is no need to wait in line at a pharmacy.
